The construction projects of the Seoul Myeonmok Line and the Chuncheon Seomyeon Bridge have passed the preliminary feasibility study (PFS) and will soon commence.
On the 5th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that three projects, including these, passed the PFS at the Fiscal Project Evaluation Committee chaired by Kim Yoon-sang, the 2nd Vice Minister.
The Myeonmok Line (Cheongnyangni Station to Sinnnae Station) construction project aims to build an urban railway in an area with poor public transportation to resolve constant road congestion and commuting inconveniences.
The Seomyeon Bridge construction project is intended to improve living conditions for residents in the Seomyeon area, which is disconnected from downtown Chuncheon, by building a bridge connecting Seomyeon and Hajungdo in Chuncheon City, and to distribute traffic volume between the metropolitan area and Chuncheon.
Additionally, the local road No. 86 Dongmak to Gaeya road construction project, which involves installing a tunnel in the Neolmi-jae section where the road is severely curved and steep, posing a high risk of vehicle accidents, also passed the PFS.
At this committee meeting, the project to build a next-generation integrated student loan support system was selected as a PFS target project. This involves a complete overhaul of the outdated integrated IT system of the Korea Student Aid Foundation to provide proactive and customized services to the public.
These three projects will be promptly advanced through securing related budgets, and the one project selected as a PFS target will begin the PFS investigation soon after the research institution forms a specialized research team.
