Baemin Supports Small Business Owners with 5 Million Paper Straws on 'Environment Day'

Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, announced on the 5th that they will deliver 5 million paper straws to about 1,000 small business owners, including individual cafe owners, in collaboration with the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise Associations to mark Environment Day. This initiative was prepared to support paper straw manufacturers struggling due to blocked sales channels and to promote the use of eco-friendly products among small business owners. Woowa Brothers donated 100 million KRW, and the Federation contributed another 100 million KRW.

The 5 million paper straws purchased jointly this time will be distributed to small business owners running individual cafes through the National Cafe Owners Cooperative. Some will be provided free of charge at the June Cafe & Dessert Exhibition held from the 24th to the 30th through Baemin Sanghoe. The Federation plans to deliver the straws through small business associations in the food service industry, where paper straw usage is frequent. Baemin and the Federation have agreed to continue providing free paper straws in the second half of the year.

Baemin has also prepared events for riders and customers. Through the Baemin Connect app, they are conducting the "Looking for Green Delivery Heroes" event. Riders who certify eco-friendly means of transportation such as electric motorcycles can receive prizes through a lottery. Customers can participate in a quiz event to promote the use of reusable containers on the Baemin app and receive coupons.

Kim Jung-hyun, Head of Value Management at Woowa Brothers, said, "On Environment Day, we want to encourage small cafe owners to use eco-friendly products such as paper straws and support manufacturers," adding, "We have prepared various events so that delivery stakeholders including customers and riders can take an interest in the environment together."
