Third Grader's Problematic Behavior at Jeonju Elementary School
Multiple Assaults After Being Prevented from Going Home
Late-Arriving Mother Also Assaults Teacher... Police Report Filed

Controversy has arisen after a third-grade student slapped the vice principal and used abusive language at an elementary school in Jeonju, Jeonbuk. The school claims that the student's mother, who later visited the school, also assaulted the homeroom teacher. According to CBS No Cut News and the Jeonbuk Teachers' Union on the 5th, on the morning of the 3rd, a third-grade student, A, verbally abused and assaulted the vice principal who was trying to stop him from leaving school without permission at an elementary school in Jeonju.

The released video shows a scuffle between student A and the homeroom teacher, and captures the moment in front of the elementary school classroom where A slaps the vice principal's cheek. A tells the vice principal, "Go to jail," repeatedly uses the curse word "gae××," and assaults him multiple times. He also hit the vice principal with his backpack. The vice principal stood with his hands behind his back, unable to respond and just endured the assault.

The vice principal in the video said, "(A) left the school without permission and had to be brought back, and this incident occurred during that situation," adding, "(The most urgent matter) is treatment, but the biggest difficulty is that the parents do not consent." The vice principal also told CBS No Cut News, "Since A transferred to this school, incidents like this have occurred almost daily. This incident happened while trying to stop him from going home," and "I have had several meetings with the child's mother, but she blames the school for the management responsibility."

According to the school, A eventually left the school without permission that day. The student's mother later came to the school but reportedly assaulted the homeroom teacher instead of apologizing. The homeroom teacher has reported the mother to the police on charges of assault. A had caused disturbances at another school and was forcibly transferred to this school on the 14th of last month. Since then, he has caused disruptions in the classroom and assaulted the homeroom teacher multiple times when being stopped. Meanwhile, A's side has claimed unfair treatment and child abuse, and reported the homeroom teacher to the police.

In response, parents of classmates have reportedly appealed to the education office for measures such as separating A due to "disruption of classes." The school also regards A's behavior as a serious violation of teachers' rights and has reported the matter to the Jeonju Education Support Office. Jeong Jae-seok, chairman of the Jeonbuk Teachers' Union, said, "Urgent action is needed for the child. Despite several requests for home guidance by the school, the child has not changed," adding, "This situation can be seen as child neglect. Local governments need to intervene actively."
