Support of 178 Million KRW for 30 Projects at 28 Organizations This Year through the 'Sarangui Yeolmae Nanum Network' Project
Leading Community Change and Expecting a Virtuous Cycle of Sharing through Various Region-Specific Welfare Programs
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) will allocate and support approximately 178 million KRW for 30 projects to be carried out by 28 welfare institutions and organizations within the district.
The allocated funds will be used to operate various projects aimed at promoting community welfare by each institution and organization.
The "Fruit of Love Sharing Network Project" is a public-private partnership community project operated through an agreement between Gangdong-gu, the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, and the Gangdong-gu Community Security Council. It enables local members to solve regional problems independently and establish a fundraising and distribution system tailored to local characteristics, creating a virtuous cycle of sharing.
Entering its fifth year this year, the Sharing Network conducted a call for regionally customized projects reflecting welfare issues and local residents' welfare needs in April, targeting institutions and organizations performing social welfare work and activities within the district. A total of 36 projects were submitted, and on the 13th of last month, the Sharing Network Regional Committee reviewed and decided to support approximately 178 million KRW.
With this support decision, 28 welfare institutions and organizations in the region will operate 30 projects until February next year. In particular, as a public-private cooperation project to actively respond to emerging local issues due to social and policy changes, 105 million KRW will be supported for 11 projects. These include ▲ the "Step by Step" daily recovery and employment planning program for middle-aged single-person households by the Seongnae Comprehensive Social Welfare Center ▲ the group program "Now Travel (Be Happy Here)" for healthy mourning processes for bereaved individuals by the Gangdong Senior Welfare Center ▲ and the child abuse prevention project "Our Family, More Beautiful the More You Look" by the Seoul Southeast Child Protection Agency.
Meanwhile, existing projects that showed good results through the Sharing Network institution allocation project will be expanded this year. Last year, the district community security council achieved results by promoting the welfare blind spot discovery and support system to about 200,000 households and identifying 190 low-income crisis households through the Sharing Network project, becoming a growth engine that solidified the foundation of public-private cooperation.
This year, the "Force Organize aRound Project" will be promoted to establish a local-based crisis household discovery model by expanding existing projects in the public-private cooperation field in 2024.
Additionally, 14 district community security councils, including the Gangil-dong Community Security Council, will develop and implement resident welfare services reflecting local characteristics, welfare resources, and demands through the Sharing Network. These include ▲ Gangil-dong's new resident senior settlement project "Gangil-dong Mind Connection" ▲ Sangil 2-dong's side dish delivery project "Cookpang" to prevent meal deprivation among single-person households ▲ Myeongil 1-dong's "Warm Village Caring Neighbors" to find and care for neighbors in need together ▲ and Cheonho 2-dong's health food support program "Ttukttak, Do Dream" to alleviate loneliness and promote health for socially isolated households, among other resident-tailored specialized projects.
To enhance the effectiveness of the projects and ensure transparent execution of the budget (allocated funds), on the 23rd of last month, accounting training was conducted for 28 project managers through the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest. During the project operation period, continuous monitoring will be conducted to support smooth project execution by the implementing institutions.
Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "Through this project, we will provide programs and services that meet the diverse welfare needs of local residents and continuously strive to create a happy Gangdong-gu for all citizens with practical help."
The Sharing Network Project, conducted to establish a virtuous social cycle of sharing and a community-centered welfare ecosystem, will strengthen its substance through continuous evaluation and review in the future and expand projects that lead to the stabilization of vulnerable groups' lives, welfare improvement, and community change.
