‘Customized Safe Home Set’ Support Project
Police Dispatch Linked ‘Voice Recognition Emergency Bell’ Also
Songpa-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 5th that it will provide a ‘Customized Safety Home Set’ to vulnerable groups such as single-person households and crime victims.
The district is implementing this project in consideration of the increase in crimes targeting single-person households along with the rise in the number of single-person households. The proportion of single-person households in Songpa-gu has been increasing, from 28.8% in 2020 to 30.6% in 2021, and 31.3% in 2022.
The ‘Safety Home Set’ support is provided in collaboration with the Songpa-gu Saemaeul Women’s Association (President Han Seon-young), installing three types of crime prevention products effective in preventing residential intrusion. These include ▲ a ‘Smart Doorbell’ that sends video to a smartphone app when the bell is pressed or movement is detected ▲ a ‘Home CCTV’ that allows checking the inside of the house when away ▲ and a ‘Double Lock Device for the Front Door’ that enables double locking in addition to the door lock.
Eligible applicants are residents within the district living in rental housing with rent or owner-occupied housing valued at 300 million KRW or less. Regardless of gender or housing type, residents living in homes below the standard amount can apply on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications are accepted from the 1st of this month until supplies run out. Applicants should refer to the district website and submit the application form, a copy of the lease contract, and a resident registration certificate via email to the Women and Childcare Division.
Additionally, the district will provide safety equipment to victims with a history of crime in cooperation with the local police station. Considering the urgency of the crime and the possibility of further damage, in addition to the three Safety Home Set items, a ‘Voice Recognition Emergency Bell’ will also be provided. This device is linked to the district office’s CCTV control center and enables police dispatch in case of an emergency report.
Mayor Seo Gang-seok said, “A safe daily life must be guaranteed for a happy life,” and added, “Through this safety equipment support, we will create an environment where all residents, including single-person households, can live safely in Songpa-gu.”
