'Gangnam Officetel Mother-Daughter Murderer' 65-Year-Old Park Hak-seon Mugshot Released

The police have released the personal information of Park Hak-seon (65), who stabbed and killed a mother and daughter with a weapon in an officetel in Gangnam, Seoul.

On the 4th, the Suseo Police Station in Seoul disclosed Park Hak-seon's mugshot, name, and age following the review by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Personal Information Disclosure Review Committee.

The committee stated, "Considering the brutality of the crime and the severity of the victims' harm, the sufficiency of evidence, and the public interest in alleviating public anxiety and preventing similar crimes, it was decided to disclose the personal information."

The police announced that Park Hak-seon expressed no objection in writing to the disclosure decision, and his personal information will be posted on the Seoul Police Agency's website for 30 days starting today.

Park Hak-seon is accused of stabbing a woman in her 60s and her daughter in her 30s to death on the 6th floor office of an officetel in Gangnam-gu on the afternoon of the 30th of last month. Park was in a relationship with the deceased woman in her 60s, and it is reported that the woman met him at her office with her daughter to convey her intention to end the relationship, during which the incident occurred.

He fled after the crime but was arrested by the police 13 hours later. The police found the suspected weapon discarded by him during his escape in a park near an apartment about 2 km from the crime scene the previous day.

Meanwhile, this is the first case since the 'Mugshot Disclosure Act' came into effect in January this year that the police have released a suspect's mugshot.
