The travel and leisure industry shares new updates and product launches from four days ago. Modetour's overseas travel departures last month increased by more than 50% compared to the same period last year. Modetour, Overseas Travel Departures in May
Modetour announced that the number of overseas travel departures (including packages and airline tickets) last month reached approximately 155,000, an increase of about 54% compared to the same period last year. The number of overseas package departures was 84,616, and airline tickets were 70,030, up 36% and 81% respectively from the previous year. By region, the distribution was Southeast Asia (43%), Japan (19%), China (18%), Europe (11%), and South Pacific & Americas (10%). The company explained that the reservation rates for overseas packages in the second half of the year, ahead of the summer peak season, are steadily rising at 14% in June, 22% in July, and 23% in August.
Hanatour to Operate Exclusive Inner Mongolia Charter Flights for Summer Season
Hanatour announced that it will operate exclusive charter flights to Inner Mongolia for the first time since COVID-19, limited to July and August. Inner Mongolia, located in northern China, boasts a pleasant summer average temperature of about 22 degrees Celsius. June to September is considered the optimal period for traveling to Inner Mongolia. Visitors can enjoy hidden charms such as peaceful grasslands, deserts, and stargazing at night. Hanatour operates exclusive direct charter flights to Inner Mongolia's Horhot using Jin Air. Departures are twice weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays) from July 17 to August 28. The charter flight product "Inner Mongolia · Grassland · Desert 5 or 6 days" features an itinerary conquering the grasslands and deserts of Inner Mongolia. Travelers can enjoy various activities such as camel riding, desert biking, and zip-lining in the luxurious Siramuren Grassland and the Xiangshawan Desert, the ninth largest desert in the world. Additionally, guests stay in modern gers (2 persons per room) converted from traditional nomadic dwellings, creating special memories amidst the great outdoors.
Kyowon Tour Travel Easy Sees Increased Demand for Travel Gift Certificates
Kyowon Tour Travel Easy announced that sales of travel gift certificates to individual customers in the first quarter of this year increased by 122% compared to the previous quarter. Compared to the same period last year, sales rose by 116%. Travel Easy offers four types of travel gift certificates in denominations of 50,000 KRW, 100,000 KRW, 500,000 KRW, and 1,000,000 KRW. These gift certificates can be freely used for travel product purchases on the Travel Easy website and application, as well as at Travel Easy Partners nationwide. As interest in overseas travel grows, more customers are converting partner membership points into Travel Easy points to pay for travel products. Travel Easy formed a points partnership with CJ ONE, CJ OliveNetworks' lifestyle membership service, in July last year. This allows CJ ONE points to be converted into Travel Easy points and used like cash. The use of CJ ONE points at Travel Easy in the first quarter of this year increased by 82% compared to the previous quarter and by 370% compared to the third quarter of last year.
