The Jeju Coast Guard announced on the 4th that it conducted a joint public-private marine accident rescue preparedness drill the previous day at Jeju Port to strengthen the cooperation system for marine accident rescue among the Jeju Coast Guard, fire department, and private rescue forces.
This drill assumed a situation where a vessel is flooded due to heavy rain during a typhoon approach period. It was an intensive marine accident rescue preparedness training aimed at enhancing the cooperation system and improving response capabilities by jointly conducting rescue operations with Jeju Coast Guard field forces (rescue teams, police substations, etc.), Jeju Fire Department, and private marine rescue teams.

The drill included ▲rescue of drifting persons at sea and joint public-private underwater drowning victim rescue ▲dewatering operations of flooded vessels ▲establishment of a patient severity classification (START) system and patient transport, confirming an organic cooperative response system among rescue forces through actual training.
A Jeju Coast Guard official said, “This served as an opportunity to strengthen calm and flexible response capabilities in preparation for the upcoming typhoon season,” adding, “We will do our best to protect the precious lives and property of the public through tailored training for each period.”
