Hong Joon-pyo "Moon investigated and conducted background checks on the opposing camp"
Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo criticized former President Moon Jae-in on the 4th, saying, "Can someone who did absurd things during their term manipulate the world again with a bogus memoir?" On that day, Mayor Hong said on his Facebook, "When he was president, he used all means to investigate and conduct background checks on the opposing camp."
He claimed that former President Moon and his wife visited the Czech Republic while attending the 2018 Argentina G20 summit, choosing "a route that circled the globe." Mayor Hong said, "Unlike Argentina, they went to the Czech Republic and filled their schedule with a couple's tour of Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, and more. Especially at St. Vitus Cathedral, the couple toured separately and got separated, with Kim Jung-sook looking for her husband and then running alone, a scene that was shown on TV. It showed the couple on a bucket list trip."
Mayor Hong also said, "At the time, the purpose of the Czech visit was said to be nuclear power sales, but the Moon Jae-in administration, which advocated for nuclear phase-out, made an absurd excuse, later correcting it to a mid-route refueling." He added, "I recall that the North Korean ambassador to the Czech Republic was Kim Pyong-il, Kim Jong-un's uncle. I raised suspicions on YouTube about whether there was some secret agreement there." He continued, "It should be revealed whether the military plane that transported tangerines directly to North Korea from Jeju Island only carried tangerines or if other items were sent to evade sanctions, and what was on the USB Moon gave Kim Jong-un at the Panmunjom summit."
Furthermore, Mayor Hong added, "Along with the Taj Mahal sightseeing trip I previously raised, I hope these three forgotten suspicions are clearly revealed." Earlier, on the 14th of last month, Mayor Hong also mentioned the controversy over Kim Jung-sook visiting the Taj Mahal in India on the presidential plane during the Moon administration. He wrote on Facebook, "Some people waste billions of public funds by giving the presidential plane for a solo Taj Mahal tour and live well without punishment."
Meanwhile, former President Moon Jae-in's memoir, From the Margins to the Center, topped bestseller lists upon release. According to Kyobo Bookstore's bestseller rankings for the third week of May, announced on the 24th of last month, From the Margins to the Center surpassed Morgan Housel's The Laws of Wealth to take the lead. The main readership was in their 40s (37.3%), followed by those in their 30s (24.7%) and 50s (23.1%). Readers aged 60 and above (10.1%) and those in their 20s (4.4%) were relatively fewer.
