Gangdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) signed a 'friendly exchange' agreement with Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) on the 4th, pledging close cooperation for mutual growth.
According to the agreement, the two cities will continue to collaborate by promoting various programs and projects aimed at regional economic development and industrial promotion. Last year, Pocheon-si participated in Gangdong-gu's sister city direct market, showcasing famous local specialties such as Makgeolli and strawberries to the residents of Gangdong-gu.
Since last year, the two cities have maintained continuous exchanges through working-level consultations and mutual visits, and through this official agreement, they decided to cooperate in various fields including culture, tourism, economy, and administration. In particular, the district expects residents to benefit from abundant natural and cultural tourism facilities, such as discounted admission tickets to tourist attractions like Pocheon Art Valley and Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail.
The signing ceremony held at Pocheon City Hall was attended by about 20 people, including District Mayor Lee Soo-hee, Mayor Baek Young-hyun, and officials from both cities.
District Mayor Lee Soo-hee stated, "I hope that Gangdong-gu and Pocheon-si will visit each other more frequently following this agreement ceremony, and that residents will enjoy each other's excellent cultural and tourism resources. I look forward to Gangdong-gu, which will rise as the center of eastern Seoul, and Pocheon-si, the center of northern Gyeonggi-do, to achieve mutual development in various fields."
