Changwon Special City Holds Summer Natural Disaster Countermeasures Meeting and Vows Thorough Preparedness

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a countermeasure meeting for summer natural disasters (wind and water damage, heat waves) and conducted an intensive inspection of preparedness for summer natural disasters.

The meeting, presided over by First Vice Mayor Jang Geumyong on the 3rd, was attended by the heads of 37 departments, including 23 departments organized as working groups of the Changwon Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters and disaster response departments of each district office. They reported on each department's preemptive preparations and key action plans for summer natural disasters.


Following this, there was a focused inspection on practical disaster response, including discussions and sharing of cooperation measures for prompt responses to summer natural disasters.


During the meeting, there were in-depth discussions on the management of areas at risk of casualties and disaster prevention facilities, inspections of disaster-prone facilities such as steep slopes and reservoirs, safety management of disaster recovery sites and large construction sites, and management of facilities to prevent heat wave damage. Participants agreed on the need for even more thorough preparation for unexpected abnormal weather events.


Vice Mayor Jang emphasized, "The budget and effort spent on disaster preparedness and recovery can be overshadowed by even a single casualty," and stressed, "Thorough preparation is necessary to prevent any loss of life."
