SKT Provides AI Technology to Anime OTT 'Laftel'

Provides AIX Technology to Laftel... Also Engages in Product Collaboration
"Will Continue to Provide Media AI Technology and Products"

SK Telecom announced on the 4th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the animation-specialized online video service (OTT) Laftel for AI-based content provision and marketing cooperation.

The MOU signing ceremony held the previous afternoon at Laftel's Yeouido headquarters was attended by Kim Hyuk, SKT Media Partnership Officer (CMBO), and Park Jong-won, CEO of Laftel, among others.

Through this MOU, both companies will combine SKT's artificial intelligence (AI) technology and marketing expertise with Laftel's animation-specialized OTT service.

First, SKT is considering providing AIX (AI Transformation) technologies such as 'AI Highlight,' 'AI Recommendation,' and 'AI Image Enhancement' to Laftel.

Laftel will be responsible for supporting the use of intellectual property rights necessary to apply SKT's AI technology and for analyzing animation OTT data for marketing cooperation.

Under the OTT aggregator (OTT content curation service) strategy, the two companies will also engage in product partnerships, such as offering Laftel subscription passes as an option in 'T Gift' on 'T Direct Shop.'

Kim, the CMBO, said, "We are pleased to be able to expand SKT's media AI technology and marketing capabilities with Laftel, which has successfully established itself in the domestic OTT business," adding, "We will continue to provide media AI technologies and products that resonate with the younger generation."
