The theme of the festival is safety. A fire safety festival will be held where citizens can experience various aspects of safety as content.
The Ulsan Fire Department announced on the 4th that it will host the '2024 Ulsan 119 Safety Culture Festival' at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center for two days from the 8th to the 9th.
This year marks the 16th edition of the festival, which is organized under the theme "A More Exciting Safety Festival for Ulsan Citizens." The festival has expanded participation with a variety of programs that allow citizens to watch, learn, feel, and experience safety firsthand.
The festival will feature over 100 programs centered around hands-on experiences, including the opening ceremony, experiential activities (daily safety, disaster safety, vehicles, virtual reality), competitions (firefighting song contest, safety golden bell quiz), and side events (story concert, fire truck and equipment exhibition, firefighting safety OX quiz).
The opening ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the 8th, attended by about 500 people including Ulsan Mayor Kim Dookyum, City Council Chair Kim Gihwan, Administrative and Autonomy Committee Chair Kim Jongseop, and Ulsan citizens. The event will include a pre-ceremony performance, the main event, and a tour of the venue for distinguished guests.
The pre-ceremony will feature a traditional Korean fan dance performance by the Taehwaru Art Troupe and a laser performance by the guests. Unique safety experiences such as rock climbing, earthquake simulation, descent devices, and adventure activities will be available, and participants who complete at least three main experience missions will receive safety-related prizes.
Main side events include a talk concert titled "How to Help Our Children Study Well" by Kang Sungtae, known as the "God of Study," a safety cinema, firefighting safety musical, B-boy performance, and balloon art show.
In addition, the festival offers a variety of activities and attractions such as face painting, 119 printmaking, coloring fire trucks, ball pool, and a mini playground, creating a festive space for families to enjoy together.
Ulsan Fire Department Chief Lee Jaesoon said, "I hope that by experiencing various disaster response activities with your family, we can build Ulsan into a city of safety culture."
