This amount corresponds to 5.6% of the 2024 original budget of 847,789.46 million KRW, and if passed as proposed, the total budget will become 895,768.45 million KRW.

This supplementary budget focuses on realizing practical welfare that permeates the lives of everyone from children to the elderly, revitalizing the local economy, and improving the urban environment, at the midpoint of the 8th term of the elected administration under the theme of “New Mapo, Better Mapo.”

To create a society where everyone can live well without any marginalized neighbors, Mapo-gu allocated 350 million KRW for the construction of the Anyone Sports Center, 252 million KRW for the design plan of the tentatively named Disabled Welfare Town, 275 million KRW for the operation and establishment of the Babysitter House, and 6,610 million KRW for the construction of resident convenience facilities.

Furthermore, aiming for balanced economic development throughout the Mapo-gu area from Sangam-dong to Gongdeok-dong, 1,900 million KRW was allocated for the installation of the World Cup Stream scenic waterfall, 1,000 million KRW for the maintenance of Hongik Cultural Park, and 100 million KRW for the development of the Mapo Circular Train Bus app.

In addition, to create a clean and safe urban environment, 1,050 million KRW was allocated for the installation of road heating cables in snow removal vulnerable sections, 450 million KRW for detailed safety inspections of non-statutory road facilities, and 700 million KRW for environmental improvement works on Seongsan Stream and World Cup Stream.

Mapo-gu also invested a total of 8,080 million KRW in national and city subsidy projects to respond to various resident demands.

Mayor Park Kang-su of Mapo-gu said, “This budget plan was prepared focusing on essential and urgent projects for the development of Mapo while maintaining the main budget’s policy direction of accompanying the vulnerable, promoting tourism, and ensuring residents’ safety. Mapo-gu will promptly implement projects as soon as the supplementary budget is approved and carry out proactive administration that residents can feel.”

The “2024 First Supplementary Budget” will be finalized after review and approval by the Mapo-gu Council.
