Gyeonggi-do, Hanam-si and Gapyeong-gun 'Comprehensive Audit'... Until Next Month 16 Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province will conduct a comprehensive audit of Hanam City and Gapyeong County.

Gyeonggi Province announced that it will carry out a comprehensive audit of Hanam City and Gapyeong County from the preliminary investigation starting on the 4th of this month until July 16.

In this audit, Gyeonggi Province plans to enhance communication and consultation with the audited institutions to increase acceptance and satisfaction with the audit. From the initial stages such as audit planning and preliminary investigation to the final stages, various external experts including citizen auditors will participate to strengthen objectivity and fairness.

Additionally, to guarantee municipal autonomy, the audit will focus on delegated tasks funded by the national government or Gyeonggi Province budget or tasks stipulated by laws and regulations. Autonomous tasks will only be audited if there is suspicion of illegality based on reports or media coverage.

The subjects of reports include various inconveniences experienced by residents, illegal or improper acts by public officials, corruption by public officials, fraudulent claims on public finances, and illegal operations.

Cases involving investigations or trials, matters that may infringe on private rights or privacy, and issues already audited or under audit by other agencies are excluded.

In addition to reports, materials received through various channels such as civil complaints and public interest reports will be actively utilized in the audit.

Furthermore, if officials of the audited institutions voluntarily report their own mistakes during the audit period, the penalties will be reduced or leniency granted as much as possible. Minor errors made by officials in the course of sincerely and conscientiously performing their duties will be boldly exempted.

Lee Hee-wan, the Chief Auditor of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will actively reflect residents' reports and citizen auditors' opinions to protect residents' rights and interests. At the same time, by increasing acceptance of the audit based on the credibility of audit dispositions and satisfaction of the audited institutions, we will strive to ensure that residents can feel the effects of the audit."
