Gwanak's Starlight Reflected in the Temporary Fence: Award-Winning Work?

Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) held an awards ceremony on the 3rd to announce the final winners of the 'Starlight Gwanak Temporary Fence' design contest, which was held for the first time this year.

The district held the temporary fence design contest from February 7 to May 7 to create construction sites that harmonize with the urban environment.

During the submission period, a variety of works were received, including those that symbolically expressed the district's identity such as Gwanaksan Mountain, Starlight Naerimcheon (Dorimcheon), and Gang Gam-chan, as well as creative ideas from participants.

As a result, a total of 265 works were submitted, and among them, 10 works were honored as the final winners (▲Grand Prize 1 ▲Excellence Award 2 ▲Merit Award 2 ▲Encouragement Award 5) after residents' preference voting and expert evaluation.

In particular, the Grand Prize was awarded to Kim Yoon-jin's 'A Starlight Walk Where Dreams and Stars Flow, Gwanak,' which depicts people enjoying themselves under pouring starlight.

The winning works are expected to improve the urban aesthetics of Gwanak-gu and have a positive effect on promoting district administration.

Starting in June, the district will establish design guidelines for the winning works and actively prioritize applying the winning designs to construction sites in Gwanak-gu.

At the awards ceremony, District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "Creative winning works that capture Gwanak's youthful vitality and regional characteristics have been selected, and I expect they will greatly help improve our district's urban aesthetics," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create a pleasant urban image where the urban environment and construction sites harmonize."
