Seongdong-gu to Host the '2024 Seoul Forest Hip Hop Festival'

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will hold the "2024 Seoul Forest Hip Hop Festival," a cultural event where all generations can empathize and enjoy together, at the Seoul Forest Family Yard at 5 p.m. on June 8.

Hip hop encompasses various styles including rap, DJing, and the improvisational art of graffiti, spanning music, dance, fashion, and art, and has established itself as a popular cultural genre that transcends the MZ generation to include all age groups.

Accordingly, Seongdong-gu presents the "Seoul Forest Hip Hop Festival," a cultural festival where diverse generations?from young people to middle-aged and older adults who remember the original hip hop vibe?can harmoniously connect.

In its second year following last year, this event will feature a variety of performers led by multi-entertainer YDG (Yang Dong-geun), who debuted as a child actor and is actively working as an actor.

The lineup includes the reggae-based hip hop duo Reggae Gang Like Peace (Skull & Haha), Paloalto, winner of the 11th Korean Music Awards for Best Rap/Hip Hop Album, Nucksal, runner-up of Mnet's Show Me the Money 6, Jo Gwang-il, winner of Mnet's Show Me the Money 10, and Kunta, who presents a modern and unique stage with reggae-infused hip hop. Skilled hip hop artists such as Jooseok, Jizo, Seollege, Noh Deok-soon, and Coral the Animal will also showcase fresh energy and distinctive performances.

Additionally, XEVA, Korea’s first-generation graffiti artist, will demonstrate the essence of graffiti art through live graffiti painting.

Furthermore, MC Prime, a member of the group Mugadang who has been recognized for his excellent hosting skills at university festivals and large-scale events, will lead the performance with witty remarks, bringing vitality and fun to the stage.

Admission is free, and those wishing to participate can apply in advance through the Naver form on the Seongdong Cultural Foundation website. Considering safety on the day, priority entry will be given to those who applied in advance, with additional on-site entry also available. For more details, inquiries can be made through the Seongdong Cultural Foundation.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "I expect the 'Seoul Forest Hip Hop Festival' to be a festival where all generations unite and enjoy while feeling nature in the city," adding, "I hope it will establish itself as a signature performance representing Seongdong-gu, and we will continue to strive to develop Seongdong-gu as a leading cultural and artistic hub that sets trends."
