From the 26th of last month until the opening of ‘Computex 2024’ on the 3rd of this month, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, has been making a ‘broad stride’ in Taiwan for about two weeks, drawing excited reactions from local Taiwanese media day after day. News related to CEO Huang is prominently featured on the front pages of newspapers, with extensive coverage focusing on how his words and actions might impact Taiwanese companies.

The coverage reached its peak around the 2nd, when CEO Huang delivered the keynote speech at Computex at National Taiwan University in Taipei. The influential Taiwanese economic newspaper, Commercial Times, featured extensive reports on Huang’s keynote speech on the 3rd, covering it prominently on pages 1 and 3. At the top of the front page, under the large headline "Huang Ren (Jensen Huang’s Chinese name) Starts the AI Revolution in Taiwan," the paper explained the next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) graphics processing unit (GPU) platform ‘Rubin’ that Huang unveiled for the first time, as well as NVIDIA’s upcoming projects. Just below, under the headline "Robot Era, NVIDIA’s Smart Factory Business Transformation," the article summarized expectations that AI robots introduced during Huang’s keynote would make factory production lines smarter and improve productivity. The newspaper also added that the combined market capitalization of nine companies amounts to 11.648 trillion New Taiwan dollars (approximately 495.73888 trillion Korean won).
On page 3, the paper prominently featured an article about NVIDIA’s Rubin GPU, scheduled for release in 2026, which will adopt the process products of Taiwan’s foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) company TSMC. The report continued by emphasizing that CEO Huang is leveraging Taiwan as a hub for AI business, securing more than 40 production processes in Taiwan.

Earlier, on the 30th of last month, CEO Huang held a private dinner with top executives from Taiwan’s IT industry. The dinner was reportedly hosted by Huang himself. Fourteen CEOs attended, including Liu Yangwei, Chairman of Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry), Tong Zixian, Chairman of Pegatron (Heshuo), as well as executives from Inventec, Quanta Group, Delta Electronics, Wistron, and Chunghwa Telecom. After the dinner, CEO Huang stated, "We discussed the construction of the next-generation global science and technology industry during this meeting."
On the same day, the local English-language newspaper Taipei Times also ran a lengthy article on its front page titled "NVIDIA’s Huang Announces a New Era of AI" in reference to Huang’s speech. The paper described Huang’s keynote as a ‘rockstar reception’ held ahead of the Computex event. Wearing a black jacket and stepping onto the stage under dazzling lights to unveil the new AI GPU Rubin, Huang was likened to a rockstar.
