On the 6th, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, held an unveiling ceremony for the memorial wall at the Veterans Hall, created to commemorate and honor the sacrifices and dedication made for the country in observance of the Month of Patriots and Veterans.
The memorial wall was constructed using tiles engraved with 'patriotic love' drawings created by elementary and middle school students in Gwangsan-gu, as well as inscriptions related to patriotism and veterans from nine veterans' organizations in Gwangsan-gu.
It serves as an opportunity for future generations to develop respect and gratitude for patriotism and veterans, honors the veterans' organizations and their members to instill pride, and embodies a commitment and promise to integrate the spirit of patriotism into the everyday culture of citizens.
Park Byung-gyu, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, stated, “The hearts gathered by the veterans who made today’s Republic of Korea possible and the future generations have been transformed into an artistic mural,” adding, “I hope that along with the memorial wall, the Veterans Hall will be reborn as a space for all citizens to reflect on the noble sacrifices and dedication of the patriotic martyrs and veterans who gave their lives to protect the country.”
