Discussion on the Potential of Africa's Tourism Industry and Cooperation Measures
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the 'Korea-Africa Tourism Forum' on the 3rd at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization and the World Tourism Organization, coinciding with the 'Korea-Africa Summit.'
This is the first high-level Korea-Africa forum organized in the tourism sector. The theme is 'Building Strategic Partnerships for Sustainable Tourism Development.' Minister Yoo In-chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will deliver the opening remarks, and five African ministers and vice ministers, including President Prithvirajsing Roopun of Mauritius and his spouse, the Nigerian Minister of Tourism, and the Namibian Investment Agency Director, will participate.
In the first part of the panel discussion, the potential of the African tourism industry and ways to enhance mutual cooperation will be discussed. The second part will share excellent tourism policy cases from each country for sustainable and inclusive development. Prior to the forum, Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will host a luncheon with the main speakers.
After the forum, attendees will visit the African tourism photo exhibition 'Invitation to Africa' held at the History Yard of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History. They will view thirty-eight photographs of tourist destinations from twenty-seven African countries.
Minister Yoo stated, "Africa is the continent with the greatest growth potential on Earth, with 60% of its 1.4 billion population under the age of twenty-five," adding, "Tourism will serve as an important bridge for Korea and Africa to develop a future partnership relationship."
