The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province began operating water landscape facilities such as ground fountains in urban parks starting June 1.
Suwon's water landscape facilities total 58 locations, including 39 water play facilities. Water landscape facilities refer to ground fountains, water play areas, artificial streams, and the like. They are used as play spaces for children and as shelters from the summer heat.
General water landscape facilities operate from June 1 to September 30, while water play facilities operate from July 1 to August 31. Operation is flexible depending on the number of users and weather conditions.
Water play type water landscape facilities undergo water quality inspections at least once every 15 days by drinking water quality inspection agencies such as the Suwon City Waterworks Office. Additionally, to ensure citizens can use them with peace of mind, they are kept clean through disinfection, cleaning, water replacement, and removal of floating and sedimented materials.
A Suwon city official stated, "We will thoroughly manage water quality and safety so that citizens can safely use the park water play facilities, and we will do our best to prevent accidents."
