Selection of Design Proposal for Sikjangsan Station on Daejeon City Metro Line 1

Daejeon City announced that the design competition for the construction of Sikjangsan Station on Urban Railway Line 1 has selected the submission by JNY Architects Co., Ltd. as the winning entry.

The winning design received high praise for its excellent layout plan that enhances the functionality of the urban railway station and for planning an efficient flow by incorporating escalators.

The submitting company, JNY Architects Co., Ltd., will be awarded the basic and detailed design service contract.

The Sikjangsan Station on Urban Railway Line 1 will be constructed at Samjeong-dong 36, covering an area of 12,843㎡ with a building area of 1,750.09㎡, at a cost of 4.7 billion KRW.

The two-story above-ground station will include a concourse, ticket gates, platforms, escalators/elevators, restrooms, and rest areas.

Based on the winning design, the city plans to complete the basic and detailed designs by the first half of 2025, start construction thereafter, and complete the station by the first half of 2026.

Jo Cheol-hwi, Head of the Daejeon City Railway Metropolitan Transportation Headquarters, stated, “The construction of Sikjangsan Station is expected to revitalize tourism around Sikjangsan and Daecheongho areas, improve public transportation convenience for local residents, and eventually connect with the Daejeon?Okcheon metropolitan railway.” He added, “We will create an urban railway station that embodies regional characteristics and symbolism.”
