Car Rear Window Shattered... The Culprit Is a 'Cell Phone'
"Throwing Objects in Anger Is an Act of Murder"
A car owner’s story has been shared, complaining that their car window was broken by a mobile phone thrown by someone.
On the 29th, a post titled "My car was smashed because someone threw a mobile phone" was uploaded on an online community. The author, Mr. A, revealed photos of the damage, saying, "They threw a mobile phone from above in anger, and the car ended up like this."
In the photos posted by Mr. A, there is a hole punched through the rear window of the vehicle caused by the mobile phone. The glass shattered upon impact, and shards are scattered all over the back seat. Mr. A strongly stated, "People who throw things when angry, if they hit a person, it’s murder. I hope they come to their senses." He continued, "The perpetrator was caught immediately after I reported it," and explained, "The insurance company said the best way is to settle with the perpetrator and repair the (vehicle)."
Mr. A said, "The repair shop quoted about 600,000 won just for the glass repair," and added, "Besides that, I am also considering compensation for tinting, leather damage, vehicle cleaning, and the period I couldn’t use the car due to repairs. I want to ask if this is the right way to handle it," seeking opinions.
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "I really hate people who throw anything just because they’re angry," "It would have been a disaster if it hit a person," "It must have been mentally shocking," "They must have been really angry," "That’s why I don’t want to get involved with people who can’t control their anger," and "Don’t handle it with your own car insurance; claim the full repair amount and get it back."
Meanwhile, recently, incidents and accidents involving objects being thrown from apartments causing injuries or vehicle damage have been ongoing. Falling objects, whether intentional or accidental, can lead to serious accidents, so special caution is always necessary. Also, even if there is no intent, punishment is possible if objects are thrown. If intentional and property damage occurs, the perpetrator can face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 7 million won. Even without intent, if property damage is caused, civil liability for damages can be imposed.
