"Games Created by Enemies... I Will Succeed in My Revenge"
On the 30th of last month (local time), former U.S. President Donald Trump, who was found guilty of charges related to the payment of 'hush money for sexual misconduct,' said that if he were to be imprisoned, it would be difficult for the public to accept.
On the 2nd, Trump appeared on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" and, when asked about the possibility of serving prison time or house arrest, said, "I'm fine," but added, "I don't know if the public will tolerate it."
He also emphasized that "at some point, there will be a breaking point." This can be interpreted as implying that a situation similar to the January 6 incident, when supporters stormed the Capitol after he lost to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, could be repeated.
Regarding the sentencing trial scheduled for July 11, which is set to take place ahead of the Republican National Convention (July 15?18) that will nominate the party's presidential candidate, Trump described it as "part of the game (created by his political opponents)." He also called his opponents "bad people" who "do very destructive things," and said, "My revenge will be successful." Trump has already secured a majority of delegates, confirming his status as the Republican presidential candidate.
In response to criticism from President Joe Biden's camp that he is a threat to democracy, Trump countered by saying the opposite, claiming, "They are the threat to democracy."
Regarding the guilty verdict, he said it has been even harder on his family, including his wife Melania Trump, than on himself.
About Russian President Vladimir Putin, he said, "I got along well with Putin," but added, "You have to be careful with him because he is being watched, and he is doing bad things right now."
When asked how he would handle President Putin if he were to regain power, he replied, "I think I can end it (the war) very quickly." Trump said he gets along very well with Putin and also with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, adding, "I will bring them together in one room." This appears to be a plan to arrange direct negotiations.
Trump claimed that during Biden's presidency, the world has fallen into a state of uncontrollability and that a "new axis" has formed. He said, "Iran has returned, and North Korea has also come back to the table to some extent," and evaluated Kim Jong-un by saying, "I got along very well with him. I know him quite well. He is a very smart man."
Regarding the U.S. trade deficit with China, he said, "America has a huge power that overwhelms China," but added that if he enters the White House, he will get along well with China.
