Yeungjin College Library announced on the 2nd that it successfully held the 'Chaekmaeng Talchul Club' event with active participation from students.
The 'Chaekmaeng Talchul Club' is a reading culture event where students form teams of two to three, read three books selected by the library, solve reading quizzes, and enjoy games in an escape room cafe style.
For this event, the library set up rooms inside the library for missions such as reading quizzes, hidden picture searches on book covers, and book truck curling. Additionally, one mission was presented in the metaverse library (Naver Zepeto) as an online game.
This 'Chaekmaeng Talchul Club' drew so much interest from students that the number of participating teams increased from the originally planned 20 to 26. The event, initially scheduled for one day, was held over two days on the 30th and 31st of last month.
Jin Dahyun, a second-year student in the Culinary and Baking Department who participated in the event, said, "The reading quiz based on the mission books was easy, and I enjoyed solving the book truck curling and hidden picture search with my teammates for a unique experience." Lee Daeun, a fourth-year student in the International Tourism Department, shared, "I didn't make it to the top ranks last year, so I tried again this year, but unfortunately, I didn't place again. Still, reading books and spending time with friends became a great memory."
For this 'Chaekmaeng Talchul Club,' the university's YouTuber team also participated as guests, delivering a vivid report from the scene.
As for the competition results, the first-place team that escaped in the shortest time received a prize of 450,000 won, the second-place team received 300,000 won, and the third-place team received 150,000 won. All participating teams were given souvenirs.
The 'Chaekmaeng Talchul Club' is a unique reading event organized by Yeungjin College Library that combines game elements to make reading more enjoyable for students. In 2022, it won the grand prize at the '16th Library Innovation Idea and Best Practice Contest.'
Along with this event, Yeungjin College Library also prepared various activities for 'Library Month,' including the Best Report Contest, Book Review Contest, Themed Book Exhibition, Book BTI, Nonsense Library Picture Quiz, and Alssul Yeungjin, with awards for winners scheduled for the 17th.
