On the 1st, Jeonju Volunteer Center Family Relationship Improvement Program
The Jeonju Volunteer Center (Chairman Choi Icheon) announced on the 1st that it held the "17th Smart Rest, Volunteer Family Healing Camp" to help multicultural families in the Jeonju area with mental healing amid their busy daily lives.
This event was attended by 15 multicultural families, about 80 people from Jeonju city, and six organizations including the Jeonju Multicultural Family Support Center. Participants healed together with their families by engaging in various volunteer activities and campaigns to break free from smartphone and internet overdependence. The Jeonju Volunteer Center has been operating this healing program since 2017 to help improve strained family relationships caused by smartphones, internet games, and social media (SNS), and to provide mental relaxation.
This year’s program included ▲Smart Rest, 'Overdependence' Prevention Education (Jeonbuk Smart Rest Center) ▲Into the Volunteer Library (Volunteer Library) ▲Lunch 'Jjajangmyeon & Tangsuyuk' (Nanumhoe Volunteer Group) ▲Harmony Festival: Recreation (Jeonbuk Event MC Association) ▲Carbon Neutral Practice Education (Jeonju Climate Crisis Response Division) ▲Upcycling Experience (Jeonju Deokjin Self-Support Center), among others.
The camp also conducted a carbon neutral practice campaign. All participants used personal tumblers, avoided leaving food waste, and separated trash to create a zero-waste camp. They also spent time reflecting on resource recycling practices to implement in daily life.
A multicultural family who participated in the camp said, "It was enjoyable to interact and communicate with other neighbors and families through various programs," and added, "We thought a lot about volunteer activities and will strive to practice sharing in the future."
Chairman Choi Icheon said, "I hope this becomes a healing time where families enjoy healthy leisure activities together and communicate, spreading a culture of proper ICT use," and added, "We will work to encourage participating families to take an interest in volunteering and to activate volunteer activities."
