Suwon District Court Sentences to 6 Months Imprisonment
Entering Vacant House and Committing Indecent Acts

A man in his 30s who secretly entered a neighbor's house using a lost door key and committed a lewd act was sentenced to prison in the first trial.

According to Yonhap News on the 1st, the Suwon District Court Criminal Division 19 (Judge Lee Jae-hyun) sentenced a man in his 30s, Mr. A, to six months in prison for trespassing. Mr. A was tried for unlawfully entering the home of Mr. B (in his 20s), a neighbor living in an apartment in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, around 11 a.m. on November 7 last year.

It was investigated that Mr. A committed the crime after obtaining the master key to the door that Mr. B had lost. Mr. A waited for Mr. B to go out, then entered Mr. B’s house wearing a hat and mask. He was found to be naked inside Mr. B’s home and committed a lewd act.

The court stated, "The defendant’s crime is serious as he entered the victim’s residence naked," and added, "The damage to the victim has not been properly restored, and the defendant has not been forgiven by the victim." Regarding the sentencing, the court explained, "However, at the time of the trespassing, the victim was not at home, the defendant has no prior criminal record, and he fully admitted to the crime."

Meanwhile, an incident also occurred where a delivery driver, who learned the password to a woman living alone’s house for appliance delivery, secretly entered her home and committed a lewd act, leading to a police investigation. On the 22nd of last month, the Saha Police Station in Busan booked and is investigating a man in his 40s, Mr. B, for trespassing. Around March, Mr. B entered the home of Ms. C, a woman in her 20s living alone, by entering the password, but fled when discovered by Ms. C. Earlier, Mr. B learned the home password while installing a refrigerator at Ms. C’s house in early December last year. The police believe Mr. B secretly entered Ms. C’s home and committed a lewd act around mid-December. They are also investigating additional criminal charges against Mr. B.
