Kremlin Calls Trump Guilty Verdict a "White House Political Rival Removal"

Ahead of the presidential election this November, Russia criticized the guilty verdict against former U.S. President Donald Trump, claiming that the White House is eliminating political opponents.

Kremlin Calls Trump Guilty Verdict a "White House Political Rival Removal"

Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, said at a briefing on the 31st (local time) regarding the guilty verdict against former President Trump, "It is clear that political rivals are actually being eliminated there (in the U.S.) through possible legal and illegal means."

He added, "Everyone witnessed this, and the whole world clearly witnessed it."

The previous day, a jury in the criminal trial at the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York found former Republican presidential candidate Trump guilty on all 34 charges related to the 'hush money for sexual misconduct' allegations.

This is the first time a former U.S. president has been found guilty of a felony. Former President Trump is scheduled to face current President Joe Biden in the U.S. presidential election this November, making the impact of this guilty verdict on the election dynamics a subject of attention.

Spokesperson Peskov also expressed support for China's decision to not participate in the Ukraine peace conference to be held in Switzerland next month.

He evaluated, "It means that China understands that holding the event without Russia is meaningless."
