Fire Lieutenant Oh Tae-seon of Gwangsan Fire Station and Fire Chief Kim Jong-gyun of Dongbu Fire Station were selected as the ‘Outstanding Firefighters of Gwangju in May.’
The Gwangju Metropolitan Fire Safety Headquarters selected and commended firefighters Oh Tae-seon and Kim Jong-gyun as the ‘Outstanding Firefighters Who Shined in Gwangju Fire Services in May’ at the Fire Safety Headquarters meeting room on the 31st.
The ‘Outstanding Firefighter’ is a system designed to invigorate the organization by selecting and commending employees every month who have excelled in various fields such as on-site activities and current task execution, thereby shining in Gwangju Fire Services.
Fire Lieutenant Oh Tae-seon, selected in the fire suppression field, contributed to protecting citizens’ lives and property through active suppression activities, including mobilizing an excavator for about 18 hours at the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex site in Gwangsan-gu where a fire occurred last month to prevent the spread of combustion.
Fire Chief Kim Jong-gyun, selected in the fire administration field, was recognized for his contribution to creating a safe residential environment through measures and education for apartment evacuation safety, such as evacuation drills using the housing promotion center and fire evacuation education for residents.
Both were awarded prize money, reward leave, and a commendation from the Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Kim Moon-yong, head of the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “We will do our best to nurture excellent firefighting talents who actively engage in on-site activities and promote substantial fire administration.”
