Prosecutors Demand '1-Year Prison Sentence' for Former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo in 'Fake Fisherman Bribery' Case

The prosecution has requested a one-year prison sentence for former special prosecutor Park Young-soo (72), who was indicted on charges of accepting bribes from so-called 'fake fisheries businessmen.'

On the 31st, at the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 33 (Presiding Judge Kim Dong-hyun), during the final trial for Park's violation of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, the prosecution stated, "The defendant has not shown remorse and denies the charges throughout the investigation and trial," and requested the court to "sentence the defendant to one year in prison."


For prosecutor Lee, who was indicted on the same charges, the prosecution requested one year and six months in prison, and for three current and former journalists, fines ranging from 20 million won to prison sentences of 10 months were requested.


For Kim, who is accused of providing a total of approximately 30.19 million won worth of money and goods to five individuals impersonating fisheries businessmen, the prosecution requested a two-year prison sentence.


Former special prosecutor Park was indicted in November 2022 on charges of receiving a Porsche rental car worth approximately 2.5 million won free of charge from Kim, as well as a total of 3.36 million won worth of money and goods.
