Collaboration with Ministry of SMEs and Startups Donghaeng Festival... Over 10,000 Tourists Attend
Expectations for June 15 and 22... Establishing as Gwangju's Representative Festival
The Namdo Dalbam Night Market, aiming to be the largest 'global night market' in Honam and held for the first time in the May season, demonstrated the true essence of successful festival tourism through collaboration with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Donghaeng Festival.
According to Ildosi Research Institute, which operated the 'Namdo Dalbam Night Market' on the 31st, about 10,000 tourists gathered at the event recently held around the Daein Art Market area, making it a great success.
Namdo Dalbam Night Market, which attracts a fandom customer base with a new concept every year, has been receiving steady participation inquiries since the planning stage of this year's event.
Additionally, it gained significant attention on SNS with events such as ▲1,000 won draft beer promotion ▲5,000 won experience voucher linked with a smart tourism app ▲outdoor experience zones ▲and a Buddhist painting exhibition.
Tourists unanimously expressed that rather than simply enjoying the scenery, they experienced a highly satisfying outing by enjoying affordable and diverse food and sharing cultural and artistic experiences with the sellers.
The opening ceremony was held together with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' traditional market and shopping district revitalization project, 'Donghaeng Festival 2024.' Various side events such as a purchase receipt event to boost market merchants' sales, local artist seller experiences, and Donghaeng four-cut photo shoots were also held, drawing great enthusiasm from the merchants.
The event was efficiently managed in terms of safety and hygiene by city officials, the Daein Market Merchants Association, and the Namdo Dalbam Night Market project team without police security support or traffic control, concluding without a single incident. Efforts to proactively address recurring complaints through prior announcements and broadcast alerts regarding parking and noise issues were also notable.
Lee Jeongheon, CEO of Ildosi Research Institute, said, “This year’s first event was successfully held thanks to the orderly and mature civic consciousness of citizens and tourists visiting the night market,” adding, “We will do our best throughout the year to establish it as a role model for night market events in Korea.”
Meanwhile, the Namdo Dalbam Night Market Season 1 has two remaining dates on June 15 and 22, and it is expected to establish itself as a representative festival of Gwangju held in the spring season.
