Lee Seong-yoon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 31st regarding the 'Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act,' "The special prosecutor will swiftly conduct investigations by deploying about 100 investigative personnel within a maximum of six months."
At a press conference for the representative proposal of the 'Kim Geon-hee Comprehensive Special Prosecutor Act' held at the National Assembly Communication Office in Yeouido, Seoul, Lee said, "We submitted the 'Kim Geon-hee Comprehensive Special Prosecutor Act,' which has been further strengthened from the existing bill, to the National Assembly Secretariat this morning."
He stated, "The newly submitted Kim Geon-hee comprehensive special prosecutor's investigation targets include not only the seven major suspicions related to Kim Geon-hee but also allegations of dereliction of duty, abuse of power, and illegal acts such as the cover-up and suppression by public officials," adding, "Since lenient investigations and time-wasting investigations have been problematic, the special prosecutor will deploy about 100 investigative personnel."
He also emphasized, "The act prohibits the president and the Presidential Secretariat from interfering with the duties of the special prosecutor, and considering public interest, it allows the special prosecutor to request the designation of a warrant-dedicated judge and to conduct concentrated trials through a dedicated court. Furthermore, if a suspect surrenders, confesses, or submits evidence unfavorable to themselves during the investigation, their sentence will be reduced, thereby opening a path for those involved in the suspicions to voluntarily tell the truth."
