The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) is hosting the '2024 Vietnam International Premium Consumer Goods Exhibition' at the SECC (Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from the 30th of last month to the 2nd of next month.
Co-hosted with COEX, this exhibition marks its 12th year. A total of 191 domestic consumer goods companies are participating through cooperation with the Foundation for Large, Small and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture-Fisheries Cooperation, as well as four local governments including Gangwon, Incheon, Jeonbuk, and Jeju. In Vietnam, about 1,000 major distribution buyers, including 'WinCommerce,' the largest distribution company operating over 3,400 marts, and 'Tiki,' Vietnam's representative e-commerce platform, are expected to visit the exhibition hall.
KITA announced that it will invite about 150 buyers from ASEAN regions such as Thailand and Cambodia, not only Vietnam, to arrange one-on-one export consultations with participating Korean companies. The buyer invitation and pre-matching program have been confirmed to contribute to improving participation outcomes at various exhibitions. According to the 'Exhibition Participation Performance Survey' conducted on companies participating in the KITA pavilion at last year's exhibition, more than 30% of participating companies reported achieving concrete results such as factory inspections in Korea, receipt of test samples, and initial export contract signings within six months of participating in the exhibition.
At the exhibition hall, as part of the '2024 Large and Small Enterprise Joint Advancement Support Project' jointly organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Foundation for Large, Small and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture-Fisheries Cooperation, various exhibition spaces were prepared, including the 'Great Sale Zone,' a promotional space for companies holding sales licenses in Vietnam, and the 'K-Lifestyle Promotion Hall,' which includes Hallyu content products. A newly established 'K-Beauty OED/ODM Special Hall,' tailored to the Korean beauty boom in Vietnam, also supports promising beauty SMEs in pioneering export channels.
In his welcoming speech at the exhibition reception, Lee In-ho, Vice Chairman of KITA, emphasized, "Vietnam's consumer market is rapidly growing as urbanization rates and the middle-class ratio increase." He added, "Especially, Ho Chi Minh City is a city with strong purchasing power, with a per capita GDP 1.5 times that of Vietnam's overall per capita GDP." He continued, "KITA has been steadily holding exhibition consultation meetings since 2013, anticipating the potential of the Vietnamese and Ho Chi Minh City consumer markets. Going forward, we plan to implement projects that help domestic companies expand their market entry by discovering export markets with high growth potential, including Vietnam."
