Community Centers and Welfare Facilities as 'Heatwave Shelters'... Dobong-gu Operates 154 Locations Across the Area

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) will operate 154 heat relief shelters starting in June to support residents in having a healthy summer ahead of the intense heat season.

The district has designated 14 community service centers with good accessibility for residents, 132 senior centers, and 8 welfare centers as heat relief shelters, which will be open continuously from June to September.

The operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

During heatwave warnings, weekday operating hours will be extended until 9 p.m., and shelters will also be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on holidays and weekends. After 9 p.m., three local lodging facilities will operate as night shelters.

Operating hours and detailed locations of heat relief shelters in the area can be checked on the Disaster Management Portal, Safe Step App, and Seoul Safety App.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “We will do our best to implement summer measures such as operating heat relief shelters to prevent any harm to residents from heatwaves,” and urged, “Residents are advised to familiarize themselves with heatwave safety guidelines and to refrain from outdoor activities to take care of their health.”
