A sex offender who fled during a trial in the United States and lived on the run for 16 years has been captured. This man was nicknamed the "Bad Breath Rapist" due to his horrendous bad breath. Notably, he lived like an ordinary person for 15 years in a woman’s home, and it is reported that she was unaware of his true identity, which has become a topic of interest.
On the 30th, major U.S. media outlets, citing a Massachusetts police announcement, reported the arrest of Tuen Lee, the "Bad Breath Rapist," in Northern California. On February 2, 2005, Tuen Lee broke into a coworker’s home and sexually assaulted her. His identity was confirmed through DNA and his terrible breath, earning him the nickname "Bad Breath Rapist." In 2007, a jury found Lee guilty of rape and kidnapping. However, he had already escaped Massachusetts. Authorities tracked Lee for years, with detectives investing hundreds of hours in the search. The police also featured the case on the public wanted TV program America’s Most Wanted.
Then, this year, police found Lee in a multimillion-dollar home owned by a woman in Diablo, California, about 40 kilometers east of Oakland. Officers monitoring the two stopped their car under the pretext of a traffic stop when they left the house. Lee initially gave a false name to authorities but later admitted his true identity after fingerprint verification. The state police said, "The female companion lived with him in California for 15 years but had no idea who he really was."
