Daejeon citizens are most curious about the locations of stations related to the tram being promoted as Urban Railway Line 2, and they most need information about expected congested road sections during the construction period.

As a result of a survey on trams conducted by Daejeon City through the policy proposal platform 'Daejeon Siso,' when asked about their expectations for the tram, respondents answered in the order of high-quality public transportation (42.6%), eco-friendliness (41.3%), improved accessibility (40.9%), urban regeneration promotion (36.9%), and urban landscape improvement (13%).

Regarding their curiosities, they cited station locations (44.4%), tram routes (40.5%), and construction period and opening schedule (39.8%).

As for information needed by citizens during the construction period, expected congested road sections and congestion times (57.6%) were the most common, followed by construction information (44.4%), detour road information for construction sections (39.6%), public transportation usage information (30.2%), and handling of inconvenience complaints (8.4%).

Among other opinions, many participants expressed positive expectations about the introduction of the tram, along with concerns that the tram introduction could further worsen traffic congestion.

Jeon Jae-hyun, Director of the Administrative Autonomy Bureau of Daejeon City, said, “Ahead of the full-scale tram construction, we will actively strive to seek the demands and cooperation of Daejeon citizens through various communication methods.”

This survey, titled ‘Tram, What Are You Curious About?’ was conducted via SNS from April 25 to May 24, with 523 participants.
