Expanding Youth Policy Participation by Securing Talent Pool
Gyeonggi-do Icheon City is establishing a local 'Youth Talent Database (DB)' to expand policy participation among local youth.
On the 30th, Icheon City announced that it will implement 'Youth Talent Registration' to discover hidden young talents and support connections between youth active in various fields and policy officials to expand opportunities for participation in city administration.
This initiative comes in response to criticisms that young people interested in policies often face difficulties in participation due to lack of specific methods or differing procedures across departments. The city decided to build a platform that can comprehensively manage the youth talent pool to support youth activities.
Once registered as youth talent, individuals can be recommended as youth committee members for various Icheon City committees, advisors, reviewers, evaluators, youth mentors, and instructors, allowing them to participate in city administration across diverse fields. They can also receive youth policy information services currently provided by the city.
Youth Talent Registration operates year-round and can be completed by filling out an application form available on the 'Cheongnyeon Irum' website or at the town, township, or neighborhood offices.
Mayor Kim Kyung-hee said, "I hope this becomes an opportunity for young people to participate appropriately in city administration and create a better life for themselves," adding, "We will continue to strive to ensure that the voices of youth are reflected in city policies."
