This project, which will run until September, involves conducting safety inspections of social welfare facilities and supporting functional reinforcement projects if there are risk factors or if facility repairs are needed.
Protection and management of vulnerable groups will also be strengthened. Surveillance will be expanded in areas densely populated by homeless people, and vulnerable housing groups such as those living in jjokbang (small rooms) will be identified to provide customized housing upgrade support services.
For those vulnerable to heatwaves, such as elderly living alone, children, and disabled individuals with mobility difficulties, safety monitoring will be conducted in connection with home health care and customized care services, with plans to respond promptly in emergency situations.
Senior centers will be designated as cooling shelters, and in cases of households facing housing crises due to disasters, temporary housing support projects at the Cheonan City Comprehensive Support Center will provide temporary rental housing and link emergency support services.
Hygiene management of meal service facilities and compliance with expiration dates will also be strengthened through self-guided inspections to prevent food poisoning and infectious diseases.
Mayor Park Sang-don stated, “Due to the recent abnormal climate, with frequent heavy rains and downpours, we will do our best to ensure that vulnerable groups suffer no damage through thorough preparation and swift response.”
