Seoul Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) is sponsoring and the Gangdong-gu Sports Council is hosting the "97th Gangdong Greenway Walking Contest & Summer Night Concert," which will be held on the 8th of next month at the Iljasan Lawn Square. This event features a walking contest through the green forest of the Iljasan Dulle-gil trail, followed by a concert by singers Baek Ji-young and Byun Jin-sub, drawing great interest and anticipation from residents.
The event will begin at 5:10 PM with a pre-performance by the Gangdong-gu Taekwondo Demonstration Team, followed by the "Greenway Walking Contest." At 7 PM, a raffle will be held for participants who complete the walk.
The Iljasan walking course starts at the Iljasan Lawn Square, passes through the Sunrise Plaza and the camping site, and returns to the starting point. The walk takes about one hour. Participation does not require prior registration; simply arrive at the Iljasan Lawn Square by 5:10 PM on the day of the event wearing comfortable walking attire.
The "Summer Night Concert" will begin at 7:10 PM after the walking contest concludes. Baek Ji-young and Byun Jin-sub will perform their exquisite ballads for about 80 minutes, following a traditional Korean orchestra performance by the Gangdong-gu Folk Arts Troupe.
Due to subway construction and congestion around the venue, it is recommended to use public transportation. If taking a bus, routes 342, 2312, or 3323 will stop at Iljasan Entrance or Dunchon Library stops, which connect to the event entrance. For the subway, take Line 9 to Jungang Veterans Hospital Station, Exit 3, and it is about a 5-minute walk to the venue.
