“Celebrating the Opening of the Korea Aerospace Administration, Hoping It Becomes a Model for Regional Coexistence”

Park Dongsik, the Mayor of Sacheon, announced on the 29th that he made a surprise visit to the Korea Aerospace Administration (Uju Hangkongcheong) to wish for its successful launch and to support its role as the control tower of the nation's aerospace sector.

During this surprise visit, Deputy Mayor Kim Seonggyu and five department and division heads accompanied Mayor Park to welcome the opening of the Korea Aerospace Administration and to wish for its successful start.

Mayor Park expressed his thoughts, saying, "There were truly many hardships before the establishment of the Korea Aerospace Administration, and meeting the staff working here brings back many emotions."

He continued, "On behalf of the 110,000 citizens of Sacheon, I once again extend a warm welcome, and I promise to do my utmost to ensure there is no inconvenience in living in Sacheon through 29 support policies in various fields such as housing, transportation, and culture."

Yoon Youngbin, the head of the Korea Aerospace Administration, said, "Thank you for visiting to celebrate the opening of the Korea Aerospace Administration," and added, "As the first administrator, I will do my best to ensure that the Korea Aerospace Administration becomes an organization that coexists with the local community in Sacheon, the central city of the aerospace industry."

The Korea Aerospace Administration was established in Sacheon on May 27. This comes about 13 months after the government proposed the special act for the Korea Aerospace Administration in April last year, and about four months after it was passed by the National Assembly.

With an authorized staff of 293, the Korea Aerospace Administration will oversee the nation's aerospace-related policies and missions from its opening, and currently, about 110 employees have begun their official duties.

The city expects the Korea Aerospace Administration to become the first regional cooperation and coexistence model that aligns the industrial characteristics of the region with the nature of the institution.

Mayor Park stated, "For the Korea Aerospace Administration to settle successfully, the creation of an aerospace complex city is essential," and requested, "Please show much interest and cooperation in both the aerospace complex city centered around the Korea Aerospace Administration and the special act."
