The Hometown Love Donation Certification Challenge is a donation relay campaign initiated by National Assembly member Han Byungdo, who proposed the Hometown Love Donation Act. The campaign is actively underway with the participation of local government heads and members of the National Assembly across the country. Participants who are nominated certify their donation to their hometown and then designate the next participant to continue the challenge.
Governor Oh Dochang joined the challenge after being nominated by Mayor Jeong Myeonggeun of Hwaseong. He donated to Pohang City, with which Yeongyang County has built exchanges through promotional events for its excellent agricultural products, and nominated Mayor Lee Kangdeok of Pohang as the next participant.
Governor Oh Dochang said, "I am honored to participate in the Hometown Love Donation Certification Challenge," and added, "I hope many people will join in the Hometown Love Donation Program so that a culture of giving can be established and become a foundation for revitalizing the local economy."
The Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate up to 5 million won per year to local governments other than their place of residence, receiving tax deductions and gifts worth up to 30% of the donation amount.
The donations will be used for the development of Yeongyang County, including support for vulnerable social groups, youth development and protection, promotion of culture, arts, and health for local residents, and revitalization of the local community.
