Gwanak-gu 'Seorim Dabok-gil Byeoldabok Festa' Held Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, Visited Last Year's Festival Site

Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) will hold the ‘Seorim Dabok-gil Byeoldabok Festa,’ a festival where residents and merchants can enjoy together, for the second time this year following last year’s event.

‘Seorim Dabok-gil’ means ‘the street sharing the diverse blessings of Seorim-dong’ and covers the area from Sillim-ro 18ga-gil to Sillim-ro 26-gil. The Byeoldabok Festa is part of the ‘Revitalizing Alleyway Commercial District’ project aimed at energizing the area and increasing sales for nearby small business owners by creating rich content for residents to enjoy, similar to the ‘Sillim-dong Starlight Street Festival’ held last week.

The festival is meaningful as it was planned together by residents and the district through a ‘Public-Private Festival Promotion Team’ composed of the Alleyway Commercial District Merchants Association and the Residents’ Autonomous Committee.

The festival will be held on June 1 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Seorim Dabok-gil (behind Exit 2 of Seoul National University Venture Town Station).

On the day of the event, vehicle traffic will be completely restricted from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM along the event section (approximately 330 meters of roadway on Sillim-ro 18ga-gil and Sillim-ro 26-gil).

This year’s festival offers various programs including ▲Dabok Celebration Yard ▲Dabok Play Yard ▲Dabok Market Yard, and even a ‘Receipt Event’ prepared for customers participating in the festival.

At the ‘Dabok Play Yard,’ residents can participate in a variety of engaging programs.

These include ▲the beloved ‘Bubble Magic Show’ for all ages ▲busking performances by Gwanak youth art clubs ▲a ‘Street Karaoke’ where participants can showcase their singing skills, as well as ▲retro games such as water gun fights, ttakji (folded paper tile) flipping, and jegichagi (Korean shuttlecock kicking) to enjoy nostalgic fun.

The ‘Dabok Market Yard’ features various experience booths and flea markets that families can enjoy together.

In particular, the ‘1-Minute Caricature,’ which was very popular among residents at the last event, will be available again this year free of charge to all participants.

At the ‘Dabok Celebration Yard,’ food booths operated directly by alleyway merchants will be set up, offering not only visual enjoyment but also delicious treats.

Additionally, the district will install decorative lighting throughout the commercial area to provide a richer visual experience and create emotionally engaging photo zones, generating diverse content and atmosphere.

For sustainable development of the alleyway commercial district, the district was selected in 2022 for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘Alleyway Economy Recovery Support Project’ and has been working hard to develop Seorim Dabok-gil as a specialized commercial district.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, “I hope many people will participate in the Seorim Dabok-gil Byeoldabok Festa to create good memories in our neighborhood’s alleyway commercial district and join in revitalizing the commercial area. We will continue to implement various policies to activate the alleyway commercial districts.”
