The Gyeongnam Office of Education is holding the "2024 Hangeul Aijoa Poster Contest."
"Aijoa" is a slogan promoted by the Gyeongnam Office of Education, meaning that all members of the educational community, including students, teachers, and parents, pursue a happy education together.
The provincial office announced that, for the first time this year, it will hold a Hangeul contest to remind people of the excellence and value of Hangeul and to widely promote it.
The contest is open to all elementary school students in the Gyeongnam region, and the theme is "The Excellence and Value of Hangeul."
Each student may submit one work, either a hand-drawn picture using crayons, paints, etc. on A3-sized drawing paper, or a digital illustration created using a computer or tablet.
The contest period runs from June 3 to July 12, and entries can be submitted by mail or email.
The judging criteria are: relevance to the theme (30 points), creativity (30 points), practicality (20 points), and completeness (20 points). After evaluation by the judges, 13 winning works will be selected and announced on August 12.
The selected works will be shared on the Gyeongnam Office of Education website or social media channels.
The grand prize winner (1 person) will receive a 300,000 KRW cultural gift certificate, the excellence prize (3 people) 200,000 KRW each, the merit prize (4 people) 100,000 KRW each, and the encouragement prize (5 people) 50,000 KRW each, for a total of 13 winners receiving prizes.

Lee Dongchun, Public Relations Officer, said, "I hope this contest will be an opportunity to reflect on the indiscriminate use of foreign and loanwords in everyday life and to cherish Hangeul. We look forward to the interest and participation of many elementary school students."
