SK Telecom announced on the 28th that it created social value worth 2.7949 trillion KRW last year, achieving a 12% (302.2 billion KRW) increase compared to the previous year.
Since 2018, SK Telecom has been monetizing and measuring the social value generated across all corporate management activities, including product and service development, fair operations, workforce management, business partner collaboration, and social contribution activities.
SK Telecom's social value creation performance by area was recorded as follows: ▲ Economic indirect contribution increased by 5.6% (108.5 billion KRW) year-on-year to 2.0362 trillion KRW ▲ Environmental performance decreased by 6.2% (6.9 billion KRW) to -118 billion KRW due to increased corporate activities ▲ Social performance increased by 29.7% (200.6 billion KRW) to 876.7 billion KRW.
In particular, social performance was driven by ▲ enhancement of voice phishing prevention services such as blocking false roaming calls ▲ expansion of AI technology-based care services for isolated middle-aged and elderly households through AI speakers and AI calls ▲ increase in users of the smart blood donation app 'Red Connect.'
SK Telecom plans to continue efforts to achieve net zero (carbon neutrality) by 2050 through 100% transition to renewable energy.
Park Yong-joo, SK Telecom’s ESG officer, stated, "We will promote social value creation and sustainable growth together through ESG practices such as expanding the application of eco-friendly solutions integrated with AI (E), strengthening AI-based social value creation (S), and advancing AI governance (G)."
