The Geochanghan Citizen Gardener program is a course to train gardeners for the creation and promotion of garden culture. This year’s course will run from May 24 to October 4, offering a total of 80 hours of theory and practical classes over 16 weeks, covering topics such as garden design, planting of trees and shrubs, and pruning practice.

Graduates of the program will participate in various greening events hosted by the county, community volunteer activities such as creating resident-participation gardens, and establishing rooftop gardens at Geochang Changpowon.

Kim Seongnam, head of the Environmental Department, said, "There was a high application rate for the Citizen Gardener Training Course both last year and this year. Unlike last year, when participants were selected on a first-come, first-served basis, this year they were chosen through interviews," adding, "We will do our best to provide substantial education in response to the enthusiastic interest from trainees."

Meanwhile, the resident-participation garden created by the first class of Citizen Gardeners in 2023 and the rooftop garden established in the spring of 2024 received great responses from both residents and visitors.
