Hapcheon County Accepts Applications for Multicultural Family Children's Education Activity Subsidies

Educational Allowance Not Provided for Those Below 100% of Median Income
Targeting Multicultural Families
Annual 400,000 KRW for Elementary, 500,000 KRW for Middle, 600,000 KRW for High School Students

Hapcheon County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 28th that it will implement a support program for educational activity expenses for children from multicultural families, aiming to guarantee diverse educational opportunities and develop career competencies for students from these backgrounds.

This new initiative for 2024 targets children of multicultural families with Korean nationality, aged 7 to 18 (born between 2006 and 2017), whose household income is at or below 100% of the median income and who are not receiving educational benefits. The annual support amounts are 400,000 KRW for elementary school students, 500,000 KRW for middle school students, and 600,000 KRW for high school students. The funds can be used for purchasing textbooks, materials for arts, physical education, and vocational training, as well as for supporting certification fees.


Applicants who apply in May or June will receive support in July, those applying in July or August will receive it in September, and those applying in September will receive it in October. The support is provided once a year in the form of card points and will continue until the budget is exhausted. Multicultural families wishing to apply can do so by visiting the Hapcheon County Family Center or their local town office. Application forms and required documents can be found on the Hapcheon County Family Center website.


Moon Donggu, head of the Department of Senior Citizens, Children, and Women, stated, "We hope that this support for educational activity expenses will provide children from multicultural families with more universal educational opportunities, strengthen their learning capabilities, and help them plan their future careers."
