Snatch 121kg, Total 269kg New Competition Record Lifted
Wando-gun Successfully Hosts National Youth Sports Festival Weightlifting Event
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that Kim Taeyang (Wando Middle School, 3rd grade), the star of the boys' middle school weightlifting division, won the triple crown in the 81kg category during the weightlifting competition of the 53rd National Youth Sports Festival held from the 25th to the 27th.
On the 27th, Kim Taeyang competed as a representative of Jeollanam-do in the under-15 category at the Wando-gun Farmers and Fishermen Cultural Sports Center, winning three gold medals in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total categories.

In particular, his records of 121kg in the snatch and a total of 269kg surpassed his previous records, setting new competition records.
Kim Taeyang said, "My goal is to compete in the National Sports Festival later and win a gold medal," adding, "I will devote myself to training with the belief that effort brings results."
Choi Kyungcheol, chairman of the Wando-gun Sports Council, stated, "We are pleased and proud that our county's weightlifting prodigy achieved a triple crown at the national competition, elevating the status of Wando weightlifting."
Meanwhile, the weightlifting competition of the 53rd National Youth Sports Festival saw about 300 athletes from 16 cities and provinces compete fiercely over three days, resulting in 13 new middle school division records and 35 new competition records.
