Implementation of 'Taiwan Export Grape Pre-Registration System'
From now on, to export grapes to Taiwan, residual pesticide inspections must be conducted and quarantine certificates must be issued. This is a preemptive measure to respond to Taiwan's move to strengthen safety management at the customs clearance stage, as Taiwan is the largest export market for Korean grapes.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 28th that it will implement the "Pre-registration System for Grapes Exported to Taiwan" containing these details.
The pre-registration system is a system that assigns a unique registration number (ID) to exporters and farms to systematically manage safety throughout the entire export process from the production stage.
Accordingly, exporters and farms wishing to export grapes to Taiwan must complete mandatory pesticide safety use education supervised by the Rural Development Administration, report to the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) to receive a unique registration number, and then submit the residual pesticide inspection results to the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency to obtain a quarantine certificate before export is possible.
Before introducing the pre-registration system, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs listened to opinions from grape exporting farms and the industry in various ways since the beginning of the year, and after consultations with related organizations such as the Rural Development Administration, aT, the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, and the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, decided to introduce the pre-registration system.
Yang Ju-pil, Food Industry Policy Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, said, "With the introduction of the pre-registration system for grapes exported to Taiwan, the export competitiveness of Korean grapes is expected to be further strengthened, and we will actively promote safe and high-quality Korean grapes in Taiwan to continuously expand exports."
