Summit Meeting and MOU Signing on the 29th
Discussion on Cooperation in Energy, Economy, and Defense

President Yoon Suk-yeol is scheduled to have a friendly meeting and dinner with Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the afternoon of the 28th. As the UAE is a country cooperating in various fields such as economy, energy, and defense industry, the highest level of hospitality will be extended to welcome the guest.
According to the Presidential Office on the 28th, President Mohammed will make a state visit to Korea from the 28th to the 29th. This is the first visit to Korea by the UAE president.
On the afternoon of the 28th, President Yoon will hold a friendly meeting and dinner with President Mohammed. On the morning of the 29th, starting with the official welcoming ceremony held at the Presidential Office, a summit meeting, signing ceremony for agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOU), and a state luncheon will take place.
Earlier, Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy director of the National Security Office, said at a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 23rd, "Since this visit is the first state visit by the UAE president, our government will welcome President Mohammed with the highest level of hospitality befitting the occasion."
When the UAE president’s dedicated aircraft enters Korea’s Air Defense Identification Zone on the day, four of our Air Force fighter jets will escort it, and on the morning of the 29th, the Air Force Black Eagles will perform a celebratory flight at the official welcoming ceremony.
Additionally, about 100 members of the traditional honor guard and military band, around 500 personnel from the Ark Unit, and approximately 130 children’s welcoming groups will greet President Mohammed and his delegation.
When President Yoon Suk-yeol and his spouse made a state visit to the UAE in January last year, the UAE side also held a grand official welcoming ceremony with numerous horsemen and camel riders lined up.
During this summit, the two countries will discuss cooperation plans in traditional energy and clean energy, peaceful nuclear energy, economy and investment, defense, and defense technology. The Presidential Office expects tangible outcomes that the people of both countries can feel and that will help improve livelihoods.
The UAE is the only Middle Eastern country that has established a "Special Strategic Partnership" with Korea. They have built a partnership in economic and security fields, including the Barakah nuclear power plant project and the dispatch of the Ark Unit.
