Employees Support Smart Farm 'Pureme Social Farm'

GS Retail's supermarket GS The Fresh announced on the 28th that it conducted volunteer activities at the smart farm 'Purume Social Farm,' which supports the independence of young people with developmental disabilities. GS The Fresh expects this activity to raise internal and external interest in products made by young people with developmental disabilities, helping to activate product sales and support market development.

The volunteer activity held on the 9th was attended by executives and employees including the Fresh MD Division Head and Agricultural Team MD, who worked together with young people with developmental disabilities to harvest, sort, and package cherry tomatoes.

Purume Social Farm is a smart farm where young people with developmental disabilities can work, supporting their healthy independence. GS Retail is a partner company that supplies and sells premium snack tomatoes produced there. The product is a premium snack tomato (500g pack). Sales began in 2021, and through continuous promotion, sales from January to April this year have more than doubled compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, on the 9th, GS The Fresh introduced the cherry tomatoes harvested together at Purume Social Farm as a 50th-anniversary commemorative product. It was planned as a limited quantity of 1,000 boxes available through a special pre-order event on the Our Neighborhood GS app, recording sales of about 10 million KRW in just one day.

GS Retail plans to conduct additional volunteer activities quarterly. Kim Kyung-jin, Executive Director and Head of Fresh MD Division at GS Retail, said, "It is very meaningful to produce products in an environment where young people with developmental disabilities can become independent at GS The Fresh and to introduce products containing their efforts to customers." He added, "We will continue to strive for mutual growth through ongoing cooperation and support."
